What is the Food Waste Challenge?
An innovation competition, looking for innovative ideas to battle food waste.
Who is behind this?
Global Shapers Stockholm. We are a non-profit organisation started by the World Economic Forum to work on local and global challenges.
Why are you focusing on food waste?
An estimated one-third of all the food produced in the world goes to waste. Food waste is responsible for 6% of global greenhouse gas emissions.2 Batteling food waste is a huge challenge and that’s why it excites us.

Anyone can apply!
How do you select the best ideas?
We have a panel of experts representing different parts of the food system (VCs, academics, entrepreneurs, governmental agencies and corporate). Together with our experts, we will review each idea based on it’s feasability, scalability, commercialization and novelty.

What will happen if my idea wins?
We will hand out a 50.000 SEK grant to you and your team, and connect you with mentors from the food industry, to help you validate and realize your idea.
